Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Bestowed, we may collect:

  • Account information (name, email address)
  • Registry details (couple names, wedding date, location, registry items)
  • Contribution information (guest name, email, message, amount)
  • Payment information (processed securely via Stripe – we never store card details)
  • Usage data (pages visited, interactions with the platform)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your registry
  • Process contributions and payments
  • Send confirmation and notification emails
  • Improve our services and user experience
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Stripe – to process payments securely
  • Service providers – who help us operate the platform (e.g. email delivery, hosting)
  • Legal authorities – when required by law

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS compliant.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only for as long as it's needed to provide the service or to meet legal obligations. In practice that means:

  • Account information (your name, email, registry details) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove it from our active systems within 30 days.
  • Contribution records — including the guest's name, email, message, gift amount, and date — are retained for at least 7 years after the transaction to comply with Australian tax and financial-records obligations, even after an account is closed.
  • Payment information (card details) is never stored by Bestowed. It is held by Stripe under their own retention and security policies.
  • Routine backups may contain copies of your information for a short period (typically up to 30 days) after deletion before being overwritten.
  • Where we are required to keep information by law (for example, to defend a legal claim or respond to a regulatory request), we will retain it for the period required.

6. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us at info@bestowedweddings.com to exercise these rights.
